Estonian Children’s Literature at the Turku Book Fair

The Turku Book Fair takes place from the 5th of October until the 7th of October. The main topic of the fair is the Republic of Estonia celebrating its 100th anniversary. 

Visitors can purchase Estonian authors’ works translated into Finnish and receive information about Estonia at the A-hall of the fair centre. The children’s area of the fair will be arranged by Ilon’s Wonderland from Haapsalu.

Anne Kõrge, Head of the Readers Service at the Estonian Children’s Literature Centre, will talk about boys who don’t want to read at a seminar on the 5th of October at 11am.

At 3.25pm the same day, children’s authors Kairi Look and Mika Keränen will discuss together with Finnish writer Timo Parvela the differences between Estonian and Finnish children’s literature.

On the 6th of October at 11am Kairi Look and translator Katariina Suurpalo will introduce the book The Airport Bugs Fight On that was recently published in Finnish by the publishing house Aviador.

At 11.30am Anne Kõrge will participate in a seminar that discusses children’s reading habits in Estonia and Finland.
